Also, all the songs in the AmazonMP3 store are regular MP3′s, which work with more audio players and portable devices than the typical song purchased from the iTunes store.

That is only possible if a file format has a specified way of connecting chords to lyrics, and listing information about the song (like title, key, etc). Since Word files are free-form documents, we can’t reliably identify whether a particular bit of text is information about the song, song lyrics, or chords.

If you have songs in a document format like Word or PDF, you can copy and paste the lyrics and chords into the “Add song” form in the SongBook, and combine the chords and lyrics yourself.
