We’re always looking for ways to help you add songs to your SongBook, so we’re happy to announce a new import feature. If you already have chord charts in the OpenSong format, now you can easily add them to your SongBook.
Take a look at the SongBook help for more info, or just click the Import songs link in your SongBook to try it out. Note that you must be an editor of your SongBook in order to use this feature.

Glad to see some better import features. Any chance of being able to import from Word? It would save an immense amount of time!

Sorry Stephanie, but we won’t be able to provide an automatic import from Word documents. That is only possible if a file format has a specified way of connecting chords to lyrics, and listing information about the song (like title, key, etc). Since Word files are free-form documents, we can’t reliably identify whether a particular bit of text is information about the song, song lyrics, or chords.
If you have songs in a document format like Word or PDF, you can copy and paste the lyrics and chords into the “Add song” form in the SongBook, and combine the chords and lyrics yourself.

The OpenSong import is wonderful — but any chance we could do bulk import of entire ‘sets’, rather than having to manually import individual songs?

Hi Ernest. Right now, we don’t have plans to add importing of OpenSong sets – importing individual songs is the best option.
